Supporting the Stortford Christmas Lights appeal
5 October 2026 · 2 min read
The Bishop’s Stortford Christmas lights are run on donations and goodwill, and this year the appeal is short of where it needs to be.
We will have a collection tin in the Bridge Street office from the first of November, and we will match whatever comes in through the door up to five hundred pounds. If you are passing, come in and say hello — there is usually a tin of biscuits open as well.
Why we bother
We have been on this street for a long time, and the lights going on is the point where the town centre feels like a town centre rather than a collection of shops. It is a small thing that makes a visible difference to the people who trade here year round.
If you would rather give directly, the appeal takes donations through the town council. Either way, thank you.
